The PGA Tour relocates event from Olympic course due to LA wildfires.

The PGA Tour announced that it will relocate the Genesis Invitational, scheduled for February 13-16 due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The Tiger Woods Foundation organizes the event which was initially set to take place at the Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades, California. However, the area has suffered significant damage from the most destructive wildfire in LA’s history which has already scorched over 23,000 acres and devastated the local community.

Although the PGA Tour has not confirmed the new location, they pledged to provide updates soon. The Genesis Invitational is one of the eight signature events on the 2025 PGA Tour with a total prize purse of $20 million (£16.3 million). In their statement, the PGA Tour emphasized that they prioritize the safety and wellbeing of those affected by the wildfires. They expressed gratitude for first responders’ efforts and the ongoing work to combat the fires.

Riviera Country Club a long-time host of the Genesis Invitational will also host the men’s and women’s tournaments during the 2028 LA Olympics. Tiger Woods a 15-time major winner, stressed that the focus right now is on supporting those affected by the disaster. “As of now, our main concern is helping those who have lost their homes and had their lives changed,” Woods stated, emphasizing the importance of the community’s recovery over the tournament itself.

The Genesis Invitational formerly known as the Los Angeles Open has a rich history at Riviera Country Club but for now, the event organizers are focusing on providing assistance to those in need.
