Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son Charlie came close to winning the PNC Championship on Sunday but ultimately lost in a playoff to Bernhard Langer and his son Jason. The 67-year-old Langer sank the winning putt but the Woods duo, who were fan favorites had much to celebrate. Charlie reflected on the experience, saying, “It was awesome, no one made a mistake today. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had.” Tiger, who had undergone his sixth back surgery in September, was cautious about expectations ahead of the event.
However, the duo’s performance on Sunday sparked hope as they were in contention for the win. The highlight came early in the round when Charlie made his first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 fourth hole. The ball landed just in front of the cup, bounced, and dropped in, causing a stunned Charlie to look around and confirm if it had really gone in. Tiger was the first to congratulate him, and the pair shared a heartfelt bear hug.
Later, Woods called the moment one of their best and praised Charlie for making his first eagle earlier in the round. Despite the excitement, Woods downplayed any hopes of a competitive comeback, joking that he’s “a great scramble partner” but “nowhere near competitive shape.” After Charlie’s hole-in-one, Tiger humorously reminded him, “You’re buying for everyone out here,” to which Charlie responded, “I’m broke.” The playful exchange quickly went viral.
The Woods family may have finished as runners-up but it was still a memorable day. With daughter Sam serving as the caddie, it was a fun, family-filled event for the Woods as long as Charlie picks up the tab.
