Tyrrell Hatton representing England, received a reprimand from officials after his third round at the Dubai Desert Classic for hitting a tee marker in frustration on the seventh hole. Despite the outburst, the three-time Ryder Cup player bogeyed the eighth and ninth holes but regained his composure on the back nine, carding a four-under-par 68. This brought his total to 12-under, leaving him one shot behind the leader, New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier.

Reflecting on his actions, Tyrrell Hatton admitted it had been a frustrating day at Emirates Golf Club but didn’t regret it. “It was a spur-of-the-moment thing,” he said. “I can’t change it now, so I’ll just move on.” He felt pleased with his back nine performance, acknowledging that he could have done better had he converted a few putts. Looking ahead to the final round, he emphasized that his experience would help him stay focused and patient, and he remained optimistic about his chances of winning.

Hillier, who claimed his first DP World Tour title at the 2023 British Masters, finished his third round with back-to-back birdies. He started strongly with three birdies in the first five holes, building a four-shot lead but dropped three consecutive bogeys from the 13th hole allowing the field to catch up. However, he sank a six-foot birdie putt at the 17th and added another birdie at the 18th to card a two-under 70, taking the lead with a 13-under total.

Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson, who led at the halfway point, shot a two-over-par 74, dropping to 10-under, one shot ahead of England’s Laurie Canter and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox. Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin and Rory McIlroy, both tied for sixth at eight-under, remain in contention for the final round.
