Tyrrell Hatton leads the British Masters at The Belfry, shooting a stellar seven-under-par 65 in the second round. The 32-year-old Englishman, now 10 under for the tournament, holds a one-shot lead. He edges out South Africa’s Brandon Stone, Spain’s Jorge Campillo and France’s Ko Jeong-weon. This marks Hatton’s return to regular DP World Tour events for the first time since January.

He had previously faced sanctions for participating in LIV Golf events without permission. Hatton, a two-time Ryder Cup winner, entered the tournament as a clear favorite. He showcased his form with eight birdies and only one bogey during his second round. Hatton expressed satisfaction with his performance but acknowledged room for improvement.

“We always say that we’ve left something out there—it’s never perfect,” he said. “But I’m more than happy with seven under today. Ultimately, it’s the first job done to make the cut and give yourself a chance going into the weekend and I’m happy with where we’re at. I still missed a few short putts, so it would be nice to improve on that over the weekend. I just need to keep giving myself opportunities.”

Meanwhile, Brandon Stone delivered the round of the day, carding nine birdies including four consecutive from the 14th to the 17th, to achieve a remarkable 64. England’s Paul Waring, who shared the lead after the first round, fell to two under after a disappointing three-over second round filled with bogeys.

Tyrrell Hatton’s strong performance sets him up well for the weekend as he aims to secure the title and further establish his comeback.
