Xander Schauffele Claims Second Major at Royal Troon

Xander Schauffele displayed an almost Buddha-like calm on the final day of a dramatic Open Championship, despite the intense conditions of wind, rain, and sunshine. As he approached the 18th green on Sunday, Schauffele felt “chills” but maintained a composed demeanor, showing steely focus and precision that left his competitors behind. Schauffele described his final round as one of the best he’s ever played, particularly praising his performance on Royal Troon’s challenging back nine, which he navigated in 31 shots with four birdies and no bogeys.

This marked his second major championship win, following his first at the US PGA Championship in May. Unlike his previous victory which he celebrated from afar with his parents in Kauai, Schauffele’s family was present at Royal Troon. His father, Stefan, who had previously faced significant personal struggles including a traumatic accident and its aftermath was there to witness his son’s triumph up close. Stefan’s support, combined with Xander’s drive has been pivotal in Schauffele’s rise.

After his victory at Valhalla, Stefan predicted that Schauffele would secure another major title this year. His foresight proved correct, as Schauffele’s win at Royal Troon established him as a dominant force in golf. With two majors under his belt this year, Xander Schauffele now sets his sights on defending his Olympic gold medal in Paris and pursuing further achievements in his career. Despite his small stature, Schauffele has proven himself a formidable competitor in the world of elite golf, continuing to push forward with unwavering determination and a burning desire to achieve more.
