Great Britain’s men’s hockey team secured their second victory of the Hockey Pro League week with a 3-1 win over Belgium. Goals from Sam Ward, who netted twice, and Zachary Wallace ensured England maintained their fourth position in the league standings. Zachary Wallace, who had scored the decisive goal against Germany earlier in the week, opened the scoring just three minutes into the match.

Sam Ward then extended the lead with a successful penalty corner conversion. Belgium’s Alexander Hendrickx narrowed the gap with a penalty corner goal, setting up a tense finale. However, Sam Ward’s second goal, scored two minutes from time, secured Great Britain’s victory with a two-goal margin.

In contrast, Great Britain’s women’s team suffered a 4-1 defeat against Germany earlier in the day. Giselle Ansley managed to score a late consolation goal from a penalty corner, but it was not enough to prevent their ninth loss of the season in regular time. As a result, the women’s team currently sits seventh in the league standings.

Looking ahead, the GB men’s team will face Germany next on Friday at 15:30 BST, aiming to build on their recent successes. Meanwhile, the women’s team will have their next match against Belgium on Saturday at the same time, seeking to bounce back from their recent defeat.
