Armand Duplantis and Karsten Warholm Clash in 100m Showdown

Armand Duplantis, the Olympic pole vault champion and Paris 2024 400m hurdles silver medallist Karsten Warholm will face off in a 100m exhibition race on 4 September at Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium. The race will occur a day before the Diamond League meeting in the Swiss city. Duplantis, who set a world pole vault record of 6.25m and won back-to-back Olympic gold medals will challenge Warholm in this friendly competition.

Duplantis, known for his pole vault achievements, ran a personal best of 10.57 seconds in the 100m during high school in the United States in 2018. He has previously shown interest in sprint relays for Sweden. Warholm, a three-time world champion and world record holder in the 400m hurdles, last ran the 100m in 2017, recording 10.49 seconds.

Despite his success in the 400m hurdles, Warholm could not defend the title he won at Tokyo 2020 and finished behind American Rai Benjamin at the 2024 Olympics.
