Morocco secured the bronze medal in Olympic men’s football with a dominant 6-0 win over Egypt in Nantes, capping off a historic tournament for the Atlas Lions. This victory marked Morocco’s first-ever Olympic medal in football, coming after a hard-fought semi-final loss to Spain. Under the leadership of coach Tarik Sektioui, Morocco responded to their semi-final defeat with one of their most emphatic performances of the tournament.

The Atlas Lions took control early with Abde Ezzalzouli and Soufiane Rahimi scoring to give Morocco a 2-0 lead at halftime. Ezzalzouli’s opener came from a well-timed finish while Rahimi showcased his attacking prowess with a clinical strike. The second half saw Morocco extend their lead further. Bilal El Khannouss scored the third goal in the 51st minute, reinforcing Morocco’s dominant position.

Rahimi added his second goal of the match shortly after, bringing his total to eight goals at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Akram Nakach then contributed a fourth goal in the 73rd minute, making it 5-0 and Achraf Hakimi sealed the victory with a stunning free-kick three minutes from the final whistle. This comprehensive win was a fitting conclusion to Morocco’s impressive Olympic campaign.

It provided a significant morale boost following their semi-final disappointment. Meanwhile, hosts France will face Spain in the gold-medal match on Saturday, with the game scheduled to kick off at 17:00 BST.
