Paris 2024 Olympic Games concluded with a star-studded closing ceremony at the Stade de France, blending sport, entertainment, and music. Tom Cruise made a dramatic entrance, descending from the stadium roof to collect the Olympic flag for the handover to Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Games, before departing on a motorcycle. The music segment featured performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre on Venice Beach. Great Britain’s Alex Yee and Bryony Page, both gold medallists carried the nation’s flag during the ceremony.

Yee’s victory in the men’s triathlon and Page’s historic win in trampoline helped Great Britain secure seventh place in the medal table, finishing with 14 golds, 22 silvers and 29 bronzes—one more medal than their tally at Tokyo 2020. IOC President Thomas Bach, in his closing speech, praised the Games as “sensational” and a “new era” of the Olympics, highlighting their inclusivity, sustainability and full gender parity.  He also lauded the athletes for their remarkable performances and the 45,000 volunteers who contributed to the event’s success.

The ceremony also introduced Los Angeles, the next Olympic host city with R&B artist H.E.R. performing the American national anthem and a showcase of the city’s landmarks like the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Venice Beach. Michael Johnson, Kate Courtney and Jagger Eaton toured the Olympic flag around LA, setting the stage for the 2028 Games. The night concluded with a performance by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, marking a memorable end to Paris 2024.
