Jodie Grinham pregnant para-archer secured a bronze medal in the women’s individual compound event at the Paris Paralympics, defeating team-mate and defending champion Phoebe Paterson Pine. This marks Grinham’s first individual Paralympic medal; she previously won silver in the compound mixed team event at the 2016 Rio Games. Despite trailing by two points after the fourth end, seven-month-pregnant Grinham scored 29 points in the final end.

Her impressive performance secured her the bronze medal. This impressive finish allowed her to overcome Paterson Pine, who scored 26 points in the final end, resulting in a close tie of 142-141. Grinham, who faced significant challenges including frequent hospital visits during the week, expressed her pride in her achievement. “I’m really proud of myself,” said the 31-year-old archer.

“I’ve had difficulties and it’s not been easy, but as long as I’m healthy and baby’s healthy, I knew we could compete. I knew if I shot as well as I could, I could come back with a medal.” She humorously noted that her baby seemed to be reacting to the excitement, adding a personal touch to her triumph. Jodie Grinham’s resilience and dedication were evident in her performance.

She will compete again on Monday in the mixed team compound event with Nathan MacQueen. MacQueen. Her performance not only highlights her skill but also her determination to succeed despite personal challenges.
