Alex Dombrandt Leads England’s Tokyo Preparation for Japan Test

Alex Dombrandt, England’s number eight, revealed that he and his teammates have endured intense preparations to acclimatize to Tokyo’s anticipated heat and humidity ahead of their match against Japan this weekend. Steve Borthwick’s squad, facing Eddie Jones’ Japan, will embark on a series of three summer Test matches before heading to New Zealand for a two-Test series.

Dombrandt emphasized the rigorous training sessions tailored specifically for the challenging Tokyo conditions, including grueling workouts on the Wattbike and rower amidst heated environments designed to replicate the furnace-like conditions. The Harlequins player highlighted how such preparations have bonded the squad, readying them for the upcoming challenges in Japan.

Dombrandt acknowledged Eddie Jones’ coaching prowess and anticipated a formidable opposition, stressing the necessity for England to deliver their best performance to achieve their desired results. Captain Jamie George echoed Alex Dombrandt’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of building on their momentum from the Six Nations, where England finished strongly despite initial setbacks.

The Saracens hooker emphasized the team’s readiness to capitalize on the competitive season in the Premiership, highlighting their intention to carry forward the positive momentum gained into the upcoming tour.
