Sione Tuipulotu from Glasgow tackles Munster's Jack Crowley.
Glasgow Warriors caused a major upset at Thomond Park by defeating reigning champions Munster securing a spot in the United Rugby Championship final for the first time since 2019. Captain Kyle Steyn’s breakaway try gave the Warriors a 7-3 lead at halftime. Sebastian Cancelliere extended their advantage with a spectacular try before Antoine Frisch narrowed the gap with Munster’s response. Late in the game, Munster’s Alex Nankivell received a red card and George Horne’s penalty ensured Glasgow’s victory.
The Warriors will face the Bulls in Pretoria on Saturday, 22 June after the South African side’s hard-fought 25-20 win over Leinster. Munster, on a 10-match winning streak, started strong but missed early opportunities. Glasgow capitalized on Munster’s mistakes including a loose line-out, leading to Steyn’s crucial try. Despite Richie Gray’s sin-binning, Munster struggled to convert their dominance into points. Glasgow’s Tom Jordan and Rory Darge combined for a standout play, setting up Huw Jones to assist Cancelliere’s decisive try.
Horne’s accurate kicking and Darge’s crucial defensive play helped Glasgow maintain their lead. Despite Munster’s late efforts including Frisch’s try, they couldn’t overcome Glasgow’s resilient defense. Nankivell’s dismissal further hindered Munster, allowing Horne to secure Glasgow’s place in the final with a final penalty kick.
