Hull KR secured their first Super League Grand Final appearance after withstanding a fierce comeback from Warrington Wolves, winning 10-6 at a jubilant Craven Park. The Robins under head coach Willie Peters took an early lead thanks to James Batchelor’s try and a controversial score from Joe Burgess putting them ahead 10-0 in a significant match for the club.

Despite Warrington’s struggles earlier in the season, Matty Ashton’s two impressive tries in the second half reignited hope for Sam Burgess’s side, who had previously reached the Challenge Cup final. In a thrilling conclusion, Hull KR’s defense held strong against Warrington’s late surge which included two disallowed tries as the Wolves fell short. After finishing second in the regular season, Hull KR earned a week off before the final.

In contrast, Warrington advanced to this stage following a tense golden-point victory against St Helens in the elimination playoffs. This match marked a missed opportunity for Warrington to return to Old Trafford as they aimed for their first Grand Final since 2018. The semi-final showcased the tight competition between both teams, with only two points separating them in the league standings.

Batchelor opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Warrington had a try by Matt Dufty ruled out for obstruction. A controversial call saw Burgess’s try awarded despite a lack of conclusive video evidence. Ashton’s quick-fire second-half tries brought Warrington within two points but missed conversions left them chasing the game.

Hull KR’s defense proved resilient, thwarting Warrington’s late attempts to clinch victory. After the match, Hull KR’s Peters praised his players’ effort while Warrington’s Burgess acknowledged the missed opportunities that ultimately led to their defeat.
