Jordan Hendrikse has replaced injured prop Frans Malherbe in South Africa’s rugby team for the upcoming November internationals. This change not only fills a gap but also strengthens their options in the backline. Hendrikse, who is the brother of scrumhalf Jaden Hendrikse has previous experience with the Springboks having played in a Test match against Wales in June where South Africa won 41-13.

Head coach Rassie Erasmus expressed confidence in Hendrikse’s abilities, noting his strong performance for the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship. He emphasized that Hendrikse’s familiarity with the team’s structures will ease his integration into the squad. In addition to Jordan Hendrikse, the Springboks have veteran flyhalfs Handre Pollard and Manie Libbok available for the tour.

Erasmus highlighted the logistical advantages of the squad’s location, mentioning that the time zone similarities between the UK and South Africa would make it easier to call up another prop if needed during the tour. The Springboks are set to face a challenging schedule, beginning with a match against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 10.

Following that, they will play England at Twickenham on November 16 and conclude their tour against Wales at the Principality Stadium on November 23. These matches are crucial as the team prepares for future competitions while aiming to maintain their competitive edge on the international stage.
