Josh van der Flier Named Autumn Nations Player of the Series

Josh van der Flier has earned the Autumn Nations Series Player of the Series award. The 31-year-old Leinster back-row forward played a crucial role in all four of Ireland’s November Tests which included a loss to New Zealand and victories over Argentina, Fiji, and Australia. Van der Flier, who won the World Player of the Year award in 2022 maintained exceptional form throughout the series. He scored tries in the games against the All Blacks, Fiji and Australia.

Moreover, his strong performances continued as he scored in Leinster’s Champions Cup win over Bristol, further solidifying his reputation. In a close fan vote, Josh van der Flier narrowly defeated South African winger Cheslin Kolbe to claim the Player of the Series title. The Wicklow native’s consistency and ability to perform at the highest level contributed significantly to his recognition. Since his Ireland debut in 2016, van der Flier has accumulated 68 international caps.

Over the years, he has enjoyed a remarkable career, winning three Six Nations titles including Grand Slams in 2018 and 2023. His impressive work rate, leadership and attacking contributions have made him one of the standout players in Ireland’s back row. Van der Flier’s impact on the pitch has been undeniable.
