Medhi Narjissi Lost Due to Mismanagement

Medhi Narjissi’s disappearance resulted from the poor organization of the recovery session, according to the French Rugby Federation (FFR) investigation. During the session in August, the sea swept the 17-year-old away off Cape Town, South Africa. Additionally, the FFR reported that the session at Dias Beach failed to account for hazardous conditions like rip currents, waves and rocks.

The federation noted that staff ignored or missed warning signs on the beach and inadequately managed the session’s supervision. The FFR is now considering taking action against the officials who oversaw the Under-18 team at the time. To gather information, the FFR interviewed all staff members and some players involved in the session.

Medhi Narjissi, who had recently signed with Top 14 champions Toulouse and is the son of former Morocco captain Jalil Narjissi competed in a five-team tournament that included South Africa, England, Ireland and Georgia. In response, Jalil Narjissi criticized the staff who organized the session, calling it more than an accident.

He expressed his sorrow, saying, “A bus accident, a plane crash or if Medhi gets hurt and becomes paraplegic, we are all sorry, dejected. But not this, not something like that. They played with the lives of our children.” Finally, the FFR has shared its findings with Narjissi’s family and submitted its report to the French Ministry of Sport.
