Rassie Erasmus, South Africa’s coach has announced the call-up of Johan Grobbelaar and Wilco Louw for the Autumn International series after an ankle injury sidelined utility forward Jan-Hendrik Wessels. Wilco Louw a prop with 14 test caps, last played for the Springboks in 2021. Meanwhile, hooker Johan Grobbelaar has already contributed to matches against Australia and Portugal this year, adding depth to the squad ahead of the upcoming fixtures.
The Springboks will face Scotland at Murrayfield on November 10, followed by a match against England at Twickenham on November 16 and they will take on Wales at the Principality Stadium on November 23. To prepare, the team will leave on Sunday for a week-long training camp in Jersey. Rassie Erasmus has assembled a strong squad for the tour, featuring a mix of experienced and emerging players.
The forwards include Thomas du Toit, Vincent Koch, Wilco Louw, Frans Malherbe, Ox Nche, Gerhard Steenekamp, Johan Grobbelaar, Malcolm Marx, Bongi Mbonambi, Eben Etzebeth, Franco Mostert, Ruan Nortje, RG Snyman, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Siya Kolisi (captain), Elrigh Louw, Kwagga Smith, Marco van Staden and Jasper Wiese.
The backs consist of Jaden Hendrikse, Cobus Reinach, Grant Williams, Manie Libbok, Handre Pollard, Lukhanyo Am, Damian de Allende, Andre Esterhuizen, Jesse Kriel, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Aphelele Fassi, Cheslin Kolbe, Willie le Roux, Makazole Mapimpi, Canan Moodie and Damian Willemse.
