South Africa Eyes Rugby Championship Glory Against Argentina

South Africa aims to secure their first Rugby Championship title since 2019 on Saturday when they face Argentina in Nelspruit. Currently, the Springboks sit five points clear at the top of the table, despite a recent one-point loss to Argentina which gave the Pumas an outside chance to win their first championship. A victory for South Africa or even a bonus point will be sufficient for them to clinch the title.

Meanwhile, Argentina must win with a bonus point and ensure South Africa does not earn one to triumph based on their previous victories over the Springboks. In an exciting development, lock Eben Etzebeth will break the record for most caps for South Africa by playing in his 128th match, surpassing the legendary Victor Matfield. Coach Rassie Erasmus has made nine changes to South Africa’s starting lineup.

He has reintroduced several double World Cup winners. Among those returning are captain Siya Kolisi and key players Cheslin Kolbe and Damian de Allende. Argentina also has made seven changes to their lineup with Santiago Carreras stepping in at full-back and Rodrigo Isgro making his debut on the wing. Fans eagerly anticipate the match as both teams have delivered strong performances in the competition.

Argentina notably defeated New Zealand and Australia earlier in the season. Meanwhile, in the other Rugby Championship match, New Zealand hosts Australia in Wellington. Beauden Barrett returns to the fly-half position marking his 131st Test appearance while former captain Sam Cane celebrates his 100th Test. Australia has made two injury-enforced changes with new players stepping up for this crucial match.

New Zealand seeks to break a five-Test winless streak in Wellington, having narrowly beaten Australia 31-28 in their last encounter.
