Will Skelton, the Australian forward has described their upcoming match against Scotland on Sunday as their toughest test yet on their autumn tour. After a difficult period, including a disappointing World Cup performance, the Wallabies have shown signs of a resurgence with impressive wins over England and Wales. However, Skelton emphasized that despite the victories, the team remains grounded and focused.
“We’ve won two games, but we’re well aware of the challenge ahead,” said the 32-year-old La Rochelle lock. “The Scotland game is going to be the hardest one yet. We’re excited and ready to give it our all.” Skelton praised Scotland’s physicality, placing them among the top five teams in the world, and acknowledged their strong set-piece play.
He highlighted the threat posed by Finn Russell, Scotland’s playmaker, calling him a “maestro” at the back. “It’s going to be a close one, and we’ll need to be at our best,” Will Skelton added. Skelton also noted the significance of the match for Australia-born Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu, saying, “He’s a class player, both with and without the ball.”
Tuipulotu, who captains the Scottish side, poses a significant threat and Skelton stressed that the Wallabies are well aware of his capabilities. As the Wallabies prepare for this tough encounter, Skelton’s comments underline the respect they have for Scotland but also their readiness to rise to the challenge. The upcoming match promises to be a crucial test for the Wallabies’ continued revival.
