Duncan Scott of Great Britain triumphed over France’s Leon Marchand in the men’s 200m freestyle on the final day of the short course World Cup in Singapore. The 27-year-old Scott, who had previously secured a silver in the 200m medley behind Marchand claimed his second title of the event after setting a British record in the men’s 400m freestyle.

The 22-year-old French swimmer had a standout summer, winning four gold medals at the Paris Olympics. Switzerland’s Noe Ponti finished second in the overall rankings after concluding the championships with a victory in the men’s 50m butterfly. In the women’s category, America’s Kate Douglass, 22 secured the overall title after winning the 100m freestyle in the final event.

Her compatriot Regan Smith finished second overall, thanks to her win in the women’s 200m backstroke which she completed in a new world record time of 1:58.83. Smith also broke her own world record earlier in the meet with her victory in the 100m backstroke.
