Emma Raducanu reports making “good progress” in her recovery from a foot injury even as she withdraws from another tournament. The 21-year-old British tennis star announced on Wednesday that she would not participate in the upcoming Hong Kong Open scheduled to begin on October 28. Raducanu has sidelined herself since sustaining ligament damage in her foot during the Korea Open quarter-finals. This injury occurred during her match against Daria Kasatkina on September 21.
This latest withdrawal marks her fifth consecutive tournament pullout, and she has only competed in two events since July. Despite her recent setbacks, Raducanu remains optimistic about her recovery. She shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Whilst my foot is making good progress, I need a little more time before I am match fit. I hope to be able to come back and play this tournament in the future.”
Emma Raducanu aims to return to competitive play for the Billie Jean King Cup finals. These finals will take place in Malaga from November 13 to 20. The British team’s first match is set against Germany on November 15 and Raducanu hopes to be fit in time for that crucial event. As she continues her rehabilitation, Raducanu’s commitment to her recovery reflects her determination to regain her competitive edge.
The former US Open champion has faced significant challenges this year. However, she focuses on making a successful comeback and underscores her resilience in the face of adversity. Fans and supporters will watch closely as she works toward returning to the court and resuming her promising tennis career.
