Emma Raducanu Seeks New Coach After Cavaday Steps Back

Emma Raducanu is searching for a new coach after Nick Cavaday decided to step back from the role to focus on his health. Cavaday, who worked with Raducanu since early 2022 had been a key figure in her recovery from wrist and ankle surgeries. Under his guidance, Raducanu made her return to the top 60 in the world rankings after a difficult year in 2023. Raducanu expressed gratitude for Cavaday’s support, especially post-surgery and wished him well in his future endeavors, stating, “I wish him all the best in his next chapter and no doubt we’ll stay in touch.”
This marks another chapter in Emma Raducanu’s coaching journey as she now looks for her seventh full-time coach. Raducanu’s coaching history includes Nigel Sears, who guided her during her breakthrough Wimbledon run in 2021 and Andrew Richardson, who helped her win the US Open that same year. She also had brief stints with Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursunov and Sebastian Sachs. Despite the frequent changes, Cavaday, who has known Raducanu since she was 10, provided a stable and consistent presence, something the player valued.
Raducanu spoke about the importance of continuity in her coaching relationships, saying she was happy with the energy and development she experienced over the past year. Following her third-round exit from the Australian Open, Raducanu traveled to Singapore for a WTA event, accompanied by fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura. Cavaday, 38, expressed his contentment with their partnership but emphasized his need to focus on his health due to the demands of the tennis calendar. He expressed optimism about Raducanu’s future on tour.
