Jack Draper Joins GB Davis Cup Squad

Jack Draper will join the Great Britain Davis Cup squad on Tuesday following a brief recovery period after experiencing a minor injury at the US Open. The 22-year-old Draper, who lost to Jannik Sinner in a tough US Open semi-final is diligently working to regain his fitness. A spokesperson for Draper confirmed that despite the quick turnaround from the US Open, Draper will integrate with the team in Manchester on Tuesday ahead of their opening match on Wednesday.

“Jack Draper and his team are putting in significant effort to get him match-fit, and Leon Smith will consider this when making team selections,” the spokesperson said. The British team, led by Captain Leon Smith will face Finland on Wednesday, Argentina on Friday and the 2022 champions Canada on Sunday, September 15 as part of Group D in the Davis Cup.

Smith has named a squad that includes Henry Patten, who won the men’s doubles title at Wimbledon with Finland’s Harri Heliovaara, and replaces Joe Salisbury. Veteran Dan Evans and experienced doubles player Neal Skupski also make up the team. Harris joins in place of Cameron Norrie, who withdrew from the US Open due to injury.

The Davis Cup finals featuring eight countries will take place in Malaga, Spain in November.
