Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram's US Open Streak Ends

Joe Salisbury and his American partner Rajeev Ram suffered their first loss at the US Open since 2020 ending their winning streak at Flushing Meadows. The three-time defending champions, who won the men’s doubles titles in 2021, 2022 and 2023 fell to American 13th seeds Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow with a score of 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in the third round.

Joe Salisbury and Ram had maintained a 20-match winning streak at the US Open since their last defeat in the 2020 semi-finals. They also claimed victory at the Australian Open in 2020 and won three additional Grand Slam titles at the US Open. Their recent performances in major tournaments have been inconsistent. They exited the Australian Open in the third round in January, lost in the French Open quarter-finals and suffered a second-round defeat at Wimbledon.

On Monday at Flushing Meadows, Neal Skupski emerged as the sole Briton to advance. He teamed up with New Zealand’s Michael Venus to defeat Americans Emilio Nava and Tristan Boyer 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 and secured their place in the fourth round. In contrast, Wimbledon champion Henry Patten and his partner Harri Heliovaara faced elimination in the third round.

They lost 6-2, 6-2 to 11th seeds Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic. Additionally, Briton Harriet Dart and her French partner Diane Parry fell in the third round of the women’s doubles. They lost 6-4, 6-4 to 10th seeds Hao-Ching Chan and Veronika Kudermetova after their earlier win over Olympic champions Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani.
