Katie Boulter and Emma Raducanu have both secured spots on the British team for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals which will take place from November 13-20 in Malaga. The five-woman team also includes Harriet Dart, Heather Watson and doubles specialist Olivia Nicholls. Great Britain earned their place in the knockout stage with an unexpected victory over France on indoor clay in Le Portel last April.

Raducanu played a crucial role by leveling the tie with a comeback win against Caroline Garcia in just her second appearance for her country. Katie Boulter gave GB the initial lead by defeating Clara Burel and Raducanu sealed the victory by winning a third-set tie-break against Diane Parry. Captain Anne Keothavong can make up to three changes to the lineup until a day before GB’s first-round match against Germany.

Therefore, the team might see adjustments in November. Sonay Kartal with her recent WTA title win in Tunisia and a rise of over 200 places in the rankings in just two and a half months could potentially earn a spot. Kartal now ranks as the fourth British player in the WTA top 100. If GB defeats Germany, they will face defending champions Canada in the quarter-finals.

“Our team has created excellent memories over the last couple of years and will relish the opportunity in November,” said Keothavong. The team’s preparation and performance will attract attention as they aim to build on their recent successes in the competition.
