Novak Djokovic Eyes 100th Career Title at Brisbane

Novak Djokovic will begin his 2025 season at the Brisbane International before setting his sights on winning a 25th Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January. The 37-year-old Serbian a 10-time champion in Melbourne is tied with Margaret Court for a record 24 Grand Slam singles titles. Djokovic, ranked seventh in the world, struggled to add to his tally in 2024. The Brisbane International, running from December 29 to January 5 serves as a key warm-up for the Australian Open which starts on January 12.

Djokovic expressed his excitement about competing again at Pat Rafter Arena, stating that he looks forward to the support from Australian fans and hopes to make the tournament memorable. In other news, Britain’s Emma Raducanu will start her 2025 season at the Auckland Classic which runs from December 30 to January 5. The tournament features Naomi Osaka and Australian wildcard Lulu Sun, who impressed by reaching Wimbledon’s quarter-finals in July.

Djokovic with 99 ATP titles to his name is aiming to become just the third man in the Open era to reach 100 career titles, following Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103). He will face tough competition in Brisbane, including defending champion Grigor Dimitrov, Nick Kyrgios and rising star Holger Rune. Djokovic has appointed former British number one Andy Murray as his coach for the Australian Open.

Andy Murray, who has lost to Novak Djokovic in four Australian Open finals will not join Djokovic in Brisbane, though the exact date for his coaching role remains undecided. Djokovic reached the semi-finals at Melbourne Park this year but fell to eventual champion Jannik Sinner.
