Johann van Graan early meetings with Bath’s players upon taking charge at the club, he displayed a photo of Twickenham Stadium, emphasizing a unified direction. Bath hooker Tom Dunn recalled Johann van Graan message of continuity and progress, setting the target of reaching Twickenham despite Bath’s struggles at the bottom of the Premiership table.

Now, two years later, Bath is headed to Twickenham to face Northampton Saints in the final, marking a remarkable turnaround. Since Van Graan’s arrival, significant changes have occurred at Bath including the recruitment of new coaching staff, implementation of new systems, and the addition of high-profile players.  Despite this transformation, a substantial portion of the squad remained from the challenging 2021-22 campaign.

Dunn noted the transition from hope to belief among the players, attributing it to a newfound unity and shared purpose fostered by Van Graan. Prop Thomas du Toit echoed Dunn’s sentiments, praising Van Graan’s respectful approach and genuine concern for the well-being of everyone at the club.  Meanwhile, lock Charlie Ewels highlighted Van Graan’s balanced leadership style, which empowers players while maintaining clear team principles.

Ewels also emphasized the increased squad depth and competition, crucial elements in Bath’s resurgence. As Bath prepares for the final, players recognize the significance of their journey, with Ewels expressing pride in the collective effort and the perseverance through adversity.
